Of course we didn't go over one night ice when we bought our first Sheltiebitch Yoshi.
At our first orientation we learned that the Sheltie can be subdivided in two lines. The (in Europe most occurring) English line and the American line. Since the Americans are ‘built more firmly and stronger' than the English ones and we preferred the American type, we choose for an American and we never had any regrets.
Yoshi was a modeldog, but Lucie trained with Yoshi and Peter also would like to train with a dog. So just one year after we bought Yoshi, we bought our second Sheltie, Denzell. Denzell was a ‘three-quarter'-American and a dog. After a little while we began training agility. Shelties are working dogs by nature and that came true by the obedience, but especially by the agility. Infected by the agilityvirus we travelled trough the country to participate at the competition. Both Yoshi and Denzell have run at the highest national level, Denzell also became second in the national veteran competition of 2003.
Megan, our third Sheltie has showed us that it is not a guarantee that all Shelties are obsessed by working and by agility in particular. Megan is impressed very rapidly and mentally she isn't as strong as Yoshi and Denzell. Therefore we promoted her to mascot, a task of which she always acquitted herself with liveliness.
The fourth Sheltie we got is Ice, a daughter of our own Denzell. Ice really is a worker. But that is no wonder with a father who participated in the highest agilitycompetition and a mother (Pemrot Blue Princess Akita, owner Carla Voorneveld) that still participates at the highest competition.
Last, but not least, there's Daan. We incorporated Daan in our herd slightly unexpected in august 2006 at the age of two and a half year. Daan is an import American (he's been imported by Gerrit and Bea Enthoven of Pemrot's) and already has dozens offspring in the meanwhile to which he passed on his superb free character.
If everything goes well we will have pups of Daan and Ice in the spring of 2008. Given the characters and the lines of both the combination has to be a guarantor for super puppies.
